HEX vs KABIN: Which Portable Sauna Tent Is Right for You?

HEX vs KABIN: Which Portable Sauna Tent Is Right for You?

HEX or KABIN? It's the question we get asked every single week, and it's a great one.

Both are wood-fired portable sauna tents. Both are built from the same thick, durable material. Both will turn your garden into the best room in the house. So what's actually the difference, and which one should you choose?

Here's the honest answer.

The HEX: the sauna tent that put us on the map

The HEX was our first proper design. We built it specifically for UK weather: wind, rain, cold mornings and all. It reaches 110°C, and it's the thickest, most durable sauna tent on the market.

Inside, it has premium cedar benches built to the same standard you'd find in a permanent sauna, and a wood-burning stove we've strengthened and developed to be the best out there.

The HEX has two step-in doors. You unzip, step over the threshold and you're in. For most people, that's absolutely fine. It's the classic sauna tent experience, and it's the design that made PortaSauna what it is today.

The feedback that changed everything...

Harry's dad spent years playing football and working on building sites. He loved the HEX. But with dodgy knees, getting in and out was a real struggle.

He didn't want a different sauna. He just wanted an easier way in.

And he's not the only one. Stiff joints, injuries, mobility challenges, or simply wanting to walk in without thinking about it: plenty of people want that same thing.

The KABIN: walk straight in

So we built the KABIN, with one big change: a full floor-to-ceiling door. Open the zip and you can walk the whole way in. No stepping over anything. No worries.

Then something happened we didn't plan for. Fitting that floor-to-ceiling door gave the KABIN five sides instead of four, and that changed the interior layout. The result? The KABIN fits three benches, where the HEX fits two.

To be completely honest, that was a happy accident. But it's turned the KABIN into a brilliant choice for families, groups of friends and social sauna sessions.

Same thick, durable material. Same design that put PortaSauna on the map. Just a different door and a slightly different interior.

So which sauna tent is right for you?

Choose the HEX if you love the classic sauna tent style and stepping in is no problem for you or anyone who'll be using it.

Choose the KABIN if you want the ease of walking straight in, you're buying for someone with mobility needs, or you want room for a third bench and more people.

There's no better option. There's only the one that's better for you.
