For most people, private land is the easiest place to begin: your own space, a friend’s field, or a venue partner like a farm, campsite or lido. In most cases, no formal permission is needed, so you can test your format and pricing freely.

If you’d like to welcome paying guests on a public beach or in a park, you’ll usually need permission first, just like a pop-up café would. And for informal use, a simple rule of thumb: if barbecues are allowed somewhere, a sauna usually is too.
